O Great Spirit
grant me a vision.
Let it be good.
Let it bless all people.

Received the following email today from the Webmaster of Miracle's Website. Looks like Miracle's birthday is going to be an important, sacred and enjoyable event.

July 20, 2001 Update, Miracle's Website.

News from the Farm:  Miracle appears to be pregnant with her third calf.  The gestation period of buffalo is nine months, so the birth is anticipated for August or September.  Unless the mating was observed, it is often difficult to know exactly when to predict a birth or even to know if a buffalo is pregnant at all until the very last stages of the pregnancy.

Millennium (Miracle's first calf) definitely has grown larger and appear s to be ready to give birth, possibly any day.

Miracle's mother gave birth to a male calf on May 27th.  Additionally, Miracle's mother's calf of 1996 with the four white legs gave birth to a female calf on June 4th.

Visitors continue to visit in a relatively steady stream although not in large crowds.  Obviously the economy affects everyone and certainly travel statistics and the sale of farm products bear this out everywhere.

Please check the Update link at Miracle'sWebsite for further details on Miracle's birthday celebration as they evolve.  We hope to have more definitive details beyond what is listed below within the next week or two.   And also, more pictures will be added to the website after the birthday events.

Even if you can't make it to Janesville, Wisconsin in person, you can still send your personal birthday greetings to Miracle and the Heiders through NativeVillage.org  This wonderful website, newsletter, and educationalresource for children and adults is collecting signatures and messages to personally present to Miracle and the Heider family on Miracle'sbirthday.   Here's a great chance to send your own words and greetings direct.   All the signatures will be placed on ribbons, tied to a grapevine wreath, and left with the messages at Miracle's fence by the editors of NativeVillage, Valerie Crow and Gina Boltz .

Val Heider says that after the celebration, she'll place the wreath and the written messages in Miracle's little museum.  The Heider family is very excited, and deeply touched, by the involvement of the children as well as the adults in this heartwarming out pour of affection for Miracle.   Everyone feels that this is simply one more sign of the hope, beauty, and harmony that Miracle represents.  Click here on the blue link to visit NativeVillage and Miracle's Birthday Message pages.

And, please check the Update link at Miracle's Website for further details on Miracle's birthday celebration as they evolve.

Peace.  Mitakuye oyasin.  We Are All Related.  -steph
