Third Gift from Spirit Keeper of the South
L O V E
The wonderful family loving Wolf is the animal Spirit totem for Love. If the Web is
representative of two-leggeds anywhere, Wolf inspires feelings of Love more than
any other mammal. I have seen site after site dedicated to or honoring Wolf, all of
them beautiful and inspiring. A good portion of the graphic artists I check out for
backgrounds for these pages feature Wolf backgrounds among their other artwork.
There are I don't know how many Wolf WebRings. Wolf truly creates Love and
Respect in most people.
Wolves live in prairies, forestlands, and all but the highest mountains. They
dine on small animals, birds, and berries. When no live prey can be found, they
will eat carrion. Wolf generally makes a home in a cave, a hollow tree trunk, a
thicket, or a hole in the ground. In the spring, females have litters of 1 to 11 pups.
Wolves are very loving and protective parents, showing affection with kisses,
nuzzles, and play. The pups usually stay with the parents until the following winter.
Parents and their offspring make up a basic pack, which establishes and defends a
territory. A female Wolf, designated the "alpha" female is the leader of a family pack,
with her mate being secondary. Wolves mate for life, mourning more soulfully than
we do if the mate is lost. Although wolves are still abundant in eastern Europe and
in Asia, only very small populations now exist in western Europe. Their numbers in
the Americas also have been greatly diminished. The decreasing numbers were the
result of encroachments on their territory by humans. Recently Wolf populations have
again increased, but still need the protection of those of us who love Wolves, since
many ranchers and farmers still wish to kill them.

There are many beautiful Wolf photos and some good stories in the wolfpark.org Album.
The Album page will open in a new window which you can close; you will not lose this one.
"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead
them." Hebrew Bible. Isaiah 11:6.

The plant totem for this position is Hawthorne. Since very early times Hawthorne
preparations have been used to support the heart and to strengthen it when weak.
Modern researchers have revealed some interesting properties of hawthorne and
confirmed that hawthorne contains compounds which support the heart and
circulatory system. See Hawthorne Berry for a short article on medicinal qualities and Hawthorne Tree at Garden Guides for information on cultivation, harvesting and more. These pages will each come up in a new window, which you can close
when you are finished, to continue with these Sun Bear Wheel pages.

Rose Quartz is the mineral totem for Love. "Rose quartz is one of the most desirable
varieties of quartz." The beautiful pink to rose red color, unlike any other pink mineral,
is created by traces of iron and titanium in the basic Silicon Dioxide. It is often carved
into totems and ornamental figures.
If you or a loved one feel aloof,
lonely or isolated, Rose Quartz will help with learning the powers of love and
gentleness. Use Rose Quartz to help bring you Love, to soften you and bring
understanding that Love is for All things, not just for certain things or people.
You can also use a Rose Quartz for your pet when it has been wounded, or
recently operated upon.
Click on the Left IMAGE of Rose Quartz for information about the mineral
at mineral.galleries.com, and additional photos. The text link goes to the Copyright
information. Thanks.
The color for this Gift is Rose. If you are in need of feeling Loved, or working on learning to Love, use this color on you and around you. Color vibrations can be very powerful, though usually subtle in their influence. PS: think this color should be a little lighter |
NOTE: The description of the positions and totems and their meanings given on these pages is meant only as an introduction, and not a complete explanation. Meditate and study further for a more complete understanding.
